Culture Palace

  • The Culture Palace, known as an effigy of the Iasi city, was built in neogotic style and it represented one of the last official romantic architecture expressions.

Even if it was not built on antique foundations like it was believed at the beginning of XX century, it’s placed part on the ruins of the medieval royal court, mentioned in 1434. There were also used the foundation of the old palace from the period of Alexandru Morutzi (1806-1812), rebuilt by Mihail Sturza (1841-1843) and demolished in 1904. This is the palace from which it was inherited the legend of the 356th rooms, corresponding to the days of the year.
