The Endless Column
-
One of the most celebrated sculptures of the last century, austere and perfectly balanced, The Endless Column is the main work of Brancusi.
The sculpture is a stylization of specific funeral columns from the southern Romania. The original title was "The Column of endless gratitude" and was dedicated to Romanian soldiers who died in World War I in 1916 in the battles on the banks of the Jiu river.
Polovragi Monastery

It is located northeast of Tg. Jiu, on the Tg. Jiu - Rm Valcea road , in a picturesque setting at the foot of Stone Polovragilor. Monastery entrance is through a massive wooden gate, beautifully carved, which reads: "Blessed is the one that comes in the name of the Lord." On the right side of the gate is a beautiful wooden crucifix carved on concrete pedestal, dedicated to Romanian heroes and martyrs.
Recent historical research has established Polovragi monastery seniority around the year 1505, the founders Spataru Radu Commission and Patru Spataru, sons of Danciu Zamona, great nobleman mentioned in a charter issued on January 18, 1480 by Prince Basarab the Young.
Table of Silence

Table of Silence, alongside Kiss Gate and The Endless Column is one of the three parts of monumental sculpture of Targu Jiu monument ensemble of Romanian sculptor Constantin Brancusi.
Table of Silence, worked in limestone, is the table before the confrontation in battle between the combatants to participate. Time is now being represented by a circular arrangement of 12 seats, hourglass, that measures it. Everything is silent.
