Poiana Marului Monastery

  • Convent, located on the County Road 204C at the border between counties Buzau and Vrancea, not far from Bisoca, in a secluded and quiet place in the woods. Poiana Marului Monastery was founded in 1730 by St. Basil, its first abbot. Wooden church burned in 1771 and was rebuilt between 1780 and 1784. A second church in Poiana Marului, all wood, was built between 1810 and 1812. Between 1839 and 1840 there was banished Bolliac Caesar. In the eighteenth century, Poiana Marului Monastery was an important monastic and cultural center.

"Old Womens"

  • Above Ulmet village, commune Bozioru, at an altitude of 500 meters, you can enjoy a few „old women”. Although they are somewhat like „old women” in Bucegi, differs significantly from these, „old womens” from Ulmet are actually some remaining trove suspended in odd positions.

Grunjul from Manzalesti

Lopatari salt mountains

  • Entering Lopatari, the landscape changes suddenly, gaining winter look. Right after a salty white spring makes its appears a whole mountain of salt, the color of milk coffee, whose wrinkles are bleached by the surfaced salt. Climbing the steep slopes, you find rocks covered with white foam and strange green stones that you feel the need to take them home. In drained swamps, now bleached too, drops of water created interesting channels.

The Trovants

  • The Trovants, living stones that feed on sand, appears it in Buzau Mountains in strange forms, especially in spacecraft shapes. Trovants are microform relief that develops in layers of sand, respecting the pearls formula, because of the water that wash them and cemented them in time. Buzau Trovants can be discovered and admired in the Ulmet - Bozioru.
