In 1640-1641, Radu Candescu surrounded Bradu Monastery with citadel walls. Constantin Brancoveanu stayed here several times and also, Michael the Brave left on Buzau Valley from Bradu, winning the battle of the Selimbar and achieving the union of Romanian Country with Transylvania and Moldavia. Stone church At Alunis can be visited "Beheading of St. John the Baptist" church carved in stone in 1274 by two shepherds, helped by villagers.
