Siriu Dam

  • It is an earthen dam located on the river Buzau, in Siriu from Buzau County, between Siriu mountain and Podu Calului mountain. The dam is made of rock, tailings and clay core. Following dam construction, national road DN10 changed route, bypassing Lake Siriu to the contour line for that purpose were builded several viaducts. Giurca viaduct has a length of 276 m, with 46 m tall pillars and Stânca Teharau viaduct crosses the rock with the same name.

Meledic Lake

  • They say Meledic is the only lake in the world with fresh water, placed on a salt massif. Its maximum depth is 20 m and the surface does not exceed one hectare. On the lake there is a pension and a campsite. Nearby there are mineral springs known for at least 200 years. In summer, here youn do sun bath and fishing. The bathrooms are not appropriate because the deep water is extremely cold.

6S salt cave

  • No less than 35 salt caves were discovered in Meledic plateau, including 6S famous for holding the world record twice (1980 and 1986) for the longest cavity formed in salt. 6S cave is 3234 m long and 42 m elevation. The main entrance is currently blocked due to slides caused by rain. Steep walls of salt can be admired from the outside.

Transalpina

  • Transalpina road is the highest in Romania and in the entire chain of the Carpathian Mountains, from both the country and beyond, reaching the maximum altitude (2145 m) in Step Urdele. Parang road will traverse from North to South, parallel with the Olt Valley and the Jiu Valley, which encloses and connects the town Saliste of Sibiu county with Novaci town of Gorj county.
