Let your ears take a stroll through the amazing world of tonal and sound phenomena.
In a "prenatal sensory rush", visitors relive their first musical experiences of the womb many years after their birth. In the Instrumentarium they discover larger-than-life instruments, while in the Sea of Voices they see the voice as the most natural musical instrument. A long aisle leads from the Instrumentarium to the Polyphonium, where surround sound envelops the listener and offers a place to relax. Adjacent to it is the Sound Gallery, in which noises and sounds from the fields of microcosm and macrocosm, environment and the human body are listened to individually and are mixed with one's own voice and well known melodies to then be recorded on a CD with the Evolution Machine. For this unique listening experience, the latest mixed media and multimedia installations, special exhibition items and computer simulations have been developed.

Vienna's worldwide reputation as a city of music has been primarily shaped by the musical genius of some renown composers.
Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Schubert, Johann Strauss, Gustav Mahler, the Second Viennese School of Arnold Schönberg, Alban Berg and Anton Webern - all of them are introduced in their contemporary environment on the history level through historic documents, models, costumes, modern installations and personal items. Films and databases provide the focus of the setting and intensify the edutainment experience.
In Virtual Vienna, a virtual tour of the city, each visitor can pay a visit to the musical haunts throughout the city and you may even enter some of them.
The Virtual Conductor
Have a go at conducting the Vienna Philharmonic! Each visitor has a chance to do this with the Virtual Conductor. The musicians obey the visitor, follow the tempo and rhythm of the baton. They are happy to reward you with applause. However, the orchestra's patience is not without its limits.
