Schitul Cetatuia

Going on DN10 up to Magura village and then on DJ 203G to Sculpture Camp, with little effort you reach Schitul Cetatuia, whose church is dedicated to "Schimbarea la fata" celebration.
Cetatuia is located on top of the peak with the same name, in the north-western of Ciolanu hill, offering a beautiful and touching sight.
Archaeologists have found fragments of vases worked without the wheel belonging to Monteoru culture, dated to about 1500 years ago and probably also from the migration era that are exposed at the monastery museum.
They also say that there would have been a Dacian fortress and three tunnels to escape in Parscov, Buzau and Pietroasele.
From the confessions of the Olympics superior mother we find that in the early years of Christianity there was a wooden church, wrapped with shingles, which was restored in sec. IX.
Stone pit

In Magura, the resources of stone were long time exploited, getting to have many galleries spread on the Ceatuia Hermitage. Some of them are operated even today as you can see in these images where a local sculptor is working hard to bring the raw materials necessary to make artistic creations.
